Maths

Our mathematics program focuses on developing the four proficiencies in our students:
Understanding                  Fluency                Problem Solving                Reasoning

Our mathematics curriculum is structured around experiences in number and algebra, measurement and geometry, and statistics and probability, as set out in the Victorian Curriculum. Rich tasks enable students to be supported in their learning and extended as their knowledge and experience grows.

The structured classroom program includes a daily hour long session and a variety of activities that develops students’ understanding and fluency in an area of learning that can then be applied to problem solving. Throughout all lessons, students are encouraged to articulate their reasoning.

Instructional models
Our Tatura Primary School Instructional Models for Reading, Writing and Maths were developed to guide our teachers' instruction and to provide consistency across the school.
