Tatura Primary School’s Health and Physical Education program aims to teach students how to enhance their own and others’ health, safety, wellbeing and physical activity participation in varied and changing contexts. We do this by implementing these main features of our Health & Physical Education program:
- Junior and senior swimming, survival and water safety lessons (a comprehensive week long program at Aquamoves in Shepparton) & Lifesaving Victoria’s ‘Sink or Swim’ program
- Athletics, dance, minor games, major games, ball handling and fundamental motor skills units
- Leisure And Recreation Pursuits (LARP) program for students in Grades 3-6 at the end of Term 4
- PMP for Preps and our Junior Section
- House cross country, swimming and athletics sports days
- Inter-school and state representation in various sports
- Participation in Shepparton Dance Festival for students in Grade 5/6
- Participation in AFL football & cricket Victoria coaching clinics
- Wide range of facilities: access to gymnasium, oval, soccer pitch, 2 netball courts and 2 basketball courts
- A comprehensive range of sports equipment
- Bravehearts 'Ditto's Keep Safe Adventure Show' for the Junior grades (Preps to Grade 2) about personal safety
- Implementing Wilson McCaskill (team work) games in all classes across our school
